Soda!=Food

Despite the miserable midwest humidity, we have been managing to walk a little more than normal. So. Fecking. Sweaty. We took a short walk to the library tonight. The kids did a lot of bike riding again today. I can’t wait to post the images I took of them riding bikes. Jonas was smiling ear to ear.

One thing I don’t miss from Granite City is that we don’t like by any large trees. Normally I like trees, but here there are cicadas that are SO loud and annoying. I know some people like the sounds they make, but I can’t stand it.

I saw this commercial on TV today. LOL… Oh noez.. don’t tax SODA!!! I love that they have a picture perfect family camping and they have the soda sitting on the table, as if to say-camping is not camping with out my soda i.v. I also love how they call it "food" um, yeaaaah.

While I was at school…

There is a snowcone stand about 1/4 mi. from our house. Josh took the kids there & took this picture.
Jonas learned to ride his bike finally, all the way(like starting w/ out us)
so this is his reward.

Me? Excited? Nawwwww.

Forest Park | St. Louis

DSC00082

Tonight totally made up for this weekend. The weekend wasn’t horrible, but it was what it was. Ugh. Anywho… we got out of the house and walked around the central west end(St. Louis’s equivalent of the Pearl District or NW 23rd for those of you who are Portlanders) we took Chloe and she horked in the car, but we walked all around the extravagant row houses and she had a great time getting lots of love from strangers. We also stopped for gelato before dinner.

Then we drove over and parked at The Muny (Municipal Theater) and took a billion pictures. We saw a ton of turtles and ducks and I found another broken robin’s egg on the ground complete with poor little dead bird fetus inside. Robin’s must have a shit-ton of predators. After walking around the gazebo @ the muny, we walked over to the Boat House restaurant and ate outside with Chloe. More petting & dog loving ensued and we took tons of pictures of the lake and watched people launch off in their little foot peddle boats. There were baby ducks and more turtles waiting to get a little bit of our food or some croutons from the waiter.

Before dinner we met a huge poofball dog named Murphy. He was like a giant cotton ball. He was so big and soft… IDK a giant poodle or something. Well, when we were being seated for dinner we looked out on the lake-naturally. Then we hear this guy yell “MURPHY!!!” and we look over and Murphy had gotten off leash and decided to chase the ducks in the lake and got all soaked. It was pretty hilarious.

We got home just in time to see the Fourth of July fireworks that they decided to launch tonight instead(due to the rain & whatnot last night) We walked out to the big field by our house, but we got eaten alive by bugs and started to walk back to the house. We took some pics over the peanut lake so that the fireworks reflected off of it, then arrived at our apartment and sat with our neighbors–which actually happened to be the best seat in the house! The fireworks were directly in front of us!

City Garden | St. Louis

I am not saying that they built this just cause of us… but, they totally built this cause of us. :P LOL. We went to downtown St. Louis today to check out their new city Garden. It was their opening day today. It was really nice… I hope their weren’t too many chemicals. Annnnnyway…there are other wading fountains in St. Louis, but it seems like they aren’t very well kept. Hopefully they keep these ones nice.

Trinity & Jonas @ CityGarden - St. Louis

There wasn’t too many people there.. just a few people & some people with name tags that were very proud about what they had accomplished-getting in the way of everyone’s shots. As long as they keep up the maintenance, I promise to not become too supercilious, lol.

Mermaid Graffiti

Watching CNN.
People fighting over the climate bill.
People fighting over the healthcare reform.
Argument #1: The job loss. Idiots.
Argument #2: Wait time for a PCP(100 days). Tell that to people who can’t see a doctor at all.
How do these people have the balls to get on TV and argue about these things.

I went for a LONG walk last night. It was probably still 90° out. At least there was no possibility of burning. I took Chloe, but I forgot water. Not good. Neither of the two gas stations would let me have a cup of water. This town doesn’t have enough fountains. :\

Yesterday we went to the Soulard Farmers Market & The Art Museum & The Jewel Box to take pictures and bum around in the heat. At the the museum had AC. We bought strawberries for 1$. We met an old guy that was nice who sold us the strawberries. We also went down the the levees in St. Louis were it seems like they pretty much allow graffiti. There was at least a mile of graffiti. There was a perfect rendition on "the Lorax" …a movie I have always equaled with this area. :( I don’t think it was an accident that they chose that Suess character. It was SO hot. We drank lots of water.

Into the Wild

We watched Into The Wild by Sean Penn in film class. I want to watch a movie that isn’t depressing! I came home in tears. I relate to Christopher McCandless so much. Between this and Blue Velvet(which was a *great* fathers day movie /end sarcasm) and even Taxi Driver, I just feel drained writing about these and thinking about them in order to write about them.

Insignificant things are bugging me. I guess I will post my essay on this movie someday … stay tuned.

Norman Rockwell

I have never seen this Norman Rockwell before.
When we went to the coffeeshop in Lebanon, they had a huge NR book there.
I love that there are pirates and indians & cowboys.
I love the contrasts of liberal-y people and extremists(conservative or religious, or both!)
I like how it is a little dark for NR.
Have you ever seen this. What do you think?
